Equipment

In late 2007, gnawed by the fact I was limited at capturing my new experiences in Asia to a small SONY camera, I saved to purchase the Canon 30D with 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Later I also purchased the 10-22mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.

Two years later, in December 2009, I felt constrained yet again because of the not-professional-enough quality of the camera, and lack of different lenses for different situations. So, I purchased the Canon 5D Mark II with 24-105mm f/4 lens. A month later I bought the 35mm f/1.4 for the great bokeh effect, and in the following months I also got my hands on the 16-35mm f/2.8, the 70-200mm f/2.8, and the 15mm f/2.8 fisheye (for fun). In summer 2010 I visited the beautiful nature reserve Jiuzhaigou in Western China and brought the 24-105mm lens. When I zoomed in all the way, I noticed the quality was not that clear. Paired with the fact that the lens is unusable after sunset with an aperture of 4, I sold this lens and in its place purchased the 24-70mm f/2.8. Even though this is an older lens and not image stabilized, I feel the quality of the picture is much clearer and I am happy with the switch. I just got my hands on the fantastic 85mm f/1.2 and have taken some photos with it. By the end of 2011 there should be albums up with some photos taken with that lens.
